Space

Space.
Space in-between the inhale + exhale.
Space in-between the stimulus + response.
Space to choose response over reaction.
To think.
To feel.
To be.

Space isn’t something we always need to schedule or carefully plan into our lives. In fact, some of the most powerful space happens in the middle of real life – in the moments that feel the most charged, emotional, or overwhelming.

It becomes less of a “practice” + more of a way of responding to life.

A strategy. A pause. A breath.

Sure, space can be created through meditation, stepping onto the mat, or getting lost in a journal. These are beautiful ways to return to yourself.

But space can also be much simpler than that.

It can be the decision to take a deep breath before reacting.
A few seconds between saying something + wishing you hadn’t.
Five minutes to feel your emotions before deciding what to do next.
Stepping out of a room to reset your nervous system.
Half an hour before replying to a message that feels emotionally charged.
A splash of cold water on your face to bring you back into your body.
A walk outside for a fresh perspective and fresh air.
The simple sentence: “Can I get back to you?”

These small pauses might seem insignificant, but they can completely change the way we move through our lives.

They give us the chance to respond from alignment, rather than impulse. From clarity, rather than reactivity.

And when we are intentional with space, we begin to show up differently – more in line with who we are, who we are becoming, or the habits we are trying to break or build.

So much of our behaviour is driven by emotion.

And often, what our emotions need most isn’t immediate action – it’s space. Space to be felt. Space to move through us. Space to be released in a way that doesn’t create regret or further complication later on.

When we allow that space, we give ourselves the opportunity to respond in a way that feels more grounded, more honest, and more supportive of ourselves in the long run.

Not every moment will be perfect. We will still react, we will still feel overwhelmed at times. That’s human.

But the more we practise creating space, the more accessible it becomes when we need it most.

And over time, that space becomes the difference between reacting in a way we regret… and responding in a way that feels aligned.

Space on the Inspired Club

Through movement, stillness, breath + reflection, we learn to create moments of pause in everyday life, so we can respond with more awareness, clarity + intention. It’s about softening reactivity, coming back to ourselves, and finding space to move through life with a little more ease + presence – and we learn how to do that through the way we move on the mat, every time our pen touches the page in journaling, in meditation as we give our emotions space to breathe + soften, through affirmations that help to rewire reactive ways of thinking + being, and through the intentional space we create in daily life.
